One of the Christian Focus Trailblazer series of books for young people, 'The Girl Who Loved Mountains' is the story of Frances Ridley Havergal.
Author Lucille Travis tells the story of the young girl who loved Jesus and dreamed of climbing a mountain. Until that day she enjoyed the world around her, writing about it in many poems, books, children's books, devotional articles, and leaflets. Her wish to climb and her love for her Lord eventually came together when she lived in Switzerland, where she was able to share the Gospel and climb the mountains. Using her musical talents and skills, Frances wrote hundreds of hymns and dozens of hymn tunes, some of which are still in use today:
- Lord Speak to Me That I May Speak
- Take My Life and Let it Be
- I Am Trusting Thee Lord Jesus
- Like a River Glorious
- Who is on the Lord's Side?
Includes a timeline of her life, topics for reflection and a recipe for apple turnover!
