Description

George Muller (1805 - 1898) Pastor, Philanthropist, and leader in the Christian Brethren Movement was born in Prussia. In 1825 he was converted during a prayer meeting in a private house. He came to England in 1829 and soon met some of the early Brethren leaders. In 1832 Muller became active in the ministry in Bristol where he was to remain until his death.

George Muller is chiefly remembered for the orphanages he founded. These grew from the first rented house in 1835 to a great complex of buildings on Ashley Down, Bristol. He renounced a regular salary and refused to make any requests for financial support either for himself or his orphanages, even though sometimes he was penniless, the Great Provider showed Himself able and willing to supply every need.

This book has, like the life it sketches, but one aim. It is simply and solely meant to perpetuate George Muller's witness to a prayer-hearing God; to present a human history, and an experience of the Lord's leadings and dealings, which furnish a sufficient answer to the question: Where is the Lord God of Elijah?
