Andrew Murray (1828–1917) was raised in what was considered then the most remote corner of the world: Graaff-Reinet (near the Cape), South Africa. It was here, after his formal education in Scotland, that Andrew Murray returned as a missionary and minister.
As a preacher, he consistently drew large crowds and led many to trust Christ as their Savior. When revival came to Cape Town, Andrew Murray was hesitant. But Murray quickly realized that God was working in South Africa the same way He was in America.
The 'deeper Christian life' was a favorite subject for Murray. His works total over 240, some of which include: With Christ in the School of Prayer, Deeper Christian Life, Lord's Table, School of Obedience, Two Covenants, and Absolute Surrender. Murray’s lifetime work of deepening the spiritual lives of Christians has no doubt impacted the church worldwide.
